Your documents stay on your Mac.
ForgeMD talks only to the GitLab and GitHub hosts you configure, on your behalf. Your document content, file paths, repository identifiers and forge host names never leave your device, and the app sends no telemetry by default. Read the privacy policy.
When can I get it?
ForgeMD is in private testing, with an App Store submission in preparation. The waitlist gets the launch email the day it is out.
Does it work with my company's self-hosted GitLab?
Yes, that is the point. ForgeMD signs in to gitlab.com, to self-hosted GitLab instances, and to github.com, several of them at once if that is how your work is spread.
Does it work with GitHub too?
Yes. Pull requests on github.com get the same treatment as GitLab merge requests: a rendered document, threads in the margin, and an approval when you are done.
Do I need git, a terminal, or a forge's web UI?
No. ForgeMD is built for the reviewer who reads and answers documents: compliance, policy, documentation, clinical review. It is not for the person who wrote the commit.
Is reading really free forever?
Yes. Reading is never paywalled; that rule is written into the project's constitution, not just its pricing page.
What will it cost?
A one-time unlock or a subscription for the participation features, with a 14-day free trial. Prices are announced at launch.
